Can Microneedling Be The Answer To Your Acne Scars?

Have you been struggling with acne scars or skin pigmentation issues? Collagen Induction Therapy could be the relief you’ve been looking for. As women, at some point in our lives, we’ve probably dealt with acne. While acne breakouts usually happen in teen years, 50% of adult American women suffer from acne, and this percentage usually increases during pregnancy. Although there is no cure for acne, many medications and topical ointments are available on the market to treat acne.

While you may have found a way to treat your acne, or other problem skin issues, it’s likely that facial scars bring back memories when you look in the mirror. Our skin rejuvenation services, such as collagen induction therapy (more commonly known as microneedling), has been clinically-proven to treat ageing skin, pigmentation issues, and acne scar tissue.

What is Collagen Induction Therapy?

CIT, or microneedling, is a minimally invasive procedure that uses sterile micro-sized needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. That might not sound like the most appealing thing to do to your sensitive face, but the procedure is virtually painless. The micro-punctures made to your skin stimulate your body’s natural healing processes, resulting in increased collagen production, by way of cell turnover. This results in reversing signs of aging and a more youthful presentation of skin.

Traditionally these results have been able to be achieved using lasers, but instead of using heat or light, your skin is being rejuvenated mechanically. This method is just as effective as laser treatments but requires less downtime. Professional microneedling procedures can even treat severe acne scars that occur under the surface of your skin.

How Long Will It Take To See Results?

Just as everyone's skin is different, your results may also vary. Depending on your individual skin condition and the deepness of your acne scarring, results have been seen in as little as 1-3 collagen induction treatments. You should wait at least 6-8 weeks between procedures to allow cell regeneration before getting your next treatment.

Preparation For CIT and Aftercare

At Nina Ross Hair & Skin Therapy, we want to make sure you’re comfortable and fully prepared for your micro needling procedure. On the day of your procedure come in with a bare face. That means no makeup, lotions, or other topical treatments. After the collagen induction therapy procedure has finished you may cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser before going to sleep. We will let you know when you can use moisturizer and sunscreen to protect your skin.

The following day you can resume your normal makeup routine, but be sure to stay away from any exfoliants when washing your face. You may experience some light peeling of the skin, but this is a normal process in your body healing itself.

Microneedling can restore your confidence after the psychological scars you’ve carried as an aftermath of dealing with acne. To see if collagen induction therapy is right for you contact Nina Ross Hair & Skin therapy to schedule a consultation. After assessing your condition we will be able to provide you with a treatment plan going forward with the procedure and explain to you in depth what you should expect before and after your microneedling treatment. Our aim is to help you feel beautiful again so you can love the skin you’re in.
